Search Engine Optimization Tips & Techniques In the ongoing effort to \'optimize\' and \'keep optimized\' our websites we all need to employ various tactics and tricks of the trade, so to speak. While most of us keep abreast of the changes in the SEO industry and try to stay tuned into the changes in search engine algorithims, often we come up \'short\' of our expectations when it comes to examining our website results. This is not an uncommon problem so please do not feel alone. At the same time we evaluate our search engine positioning success for various websites, we look around and notice or somehow become aware of others who are achieving \"wild\" and seemingly \"unfettered\" success. We do a quick backward link check and check the source code of a successful site (competitor or even in different industy) and scratch our head wondering how they made it to page one and our site is nowhere in sight. Thus, we begin the journey in trying to figure out how we can get to Page 1 of the Big 3 search engines: google, yahoo and msn. We thought we knew it all already. Correct metatags, keywords, keyword density, site maps, title tags, we make sure not to employ any black hat techniques and yet for all that effort we are nowhere in sight after many months of tweaking and submissions. By the way.. just for fun…. Have you ever been frustrated by the subject of \"keyword density\". Just think about this for a moment. You go out and buy one of the great tools in this industry for analyzing keyword density. You spend time arranging your index page keywords to the correct density.. Wright and re-wright paragraphs in order to somehow make them \"make sense\" to reader while at the same time sprinking your primary and secondary keywords throughout the page in some logical order. Now, you feel you should do well since after all… the software tells you that your page now is equal to or better than the competitors page after all your effort.. Guess what? Do you think your competitor is going to let you get away with that? They\'ll sit around going thru the same exercise and now they\'ve got you beat.. They just added the primary keyword to 3 more sentences outbalancing you! Oops.. you better open that program again and get back to work.. and.. while you are at it.. do this same excercie on each site you own. For some of you.. that may be more than 10 sites or could even be more than 100 sites. However, I suspect if you have more than 10 sites you have already figured out a way around some of this mess and hassle. I am not saying on page optimization is not important when it relates to keyword density but I am saying there are more tools and techniques at your disposal that you should be using in order to tackle your search engine optimization projects than you might already be using. Hint: I suspect the competitor may actually not sit around worrying about his keyword density. He has so many other tools and techniques employed that he is running circles around his competitors leaving them to simply sit there and scratch their collective heads.
