Kenny Chesney From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. Kenny Chesney (born 26 March 1968 in Knoxville) is a country music singer, known for such works as No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problems and When the Sun Goes Down. Kenny is known for his laid back style of country music that appeals to lovers of all genres. Chesney writes and sings his songs; something not done by many artists today. His songs are based on his actual life, and lessons he has learned. His first major hit was \"Fall in Love,\" which reached the Top 10 in the spring of 1995. The follow-up, \"All I Need to Know,\" also reached the Top 10, but after several follow-up singles failed to reach the Top 20, it appeared Chesney would be the victim of beginner\'s luck. Fortunately, such was not the case. In the fall of 1996, he scored his biggest hit yet with the Top 5 smash, \"Me and You,\" and returned again with \"When I Close My Eyes\" in early 1997. He finally reached the top of the charts with \"She\'s Got it All\" in August 1997, spending three weeks atop Billboard magazine\'s country singles chart. Several of his subsequent No. 1 hits were among the biggest country hits in recent years: \"How Forever Feels\" (No. 1 for six weeks in the spring of 1999); \"The Good Stuff\" (No. 1 for seven weeks in the summer of 2002); \"There Goes My Life\" (No. 1 for seven weeks in early 2004); and \"When the Sun Goes Down\" (a duet with Uncle Kracker that spent five weeks at No. 1 in the spring of 2004). Notable No. 2\'s include \"That\'s Why I\'m Here\" (from the summer of 1998); \"Young\" (spring of 2002); \"Big Star\" (spring of 2003); \"No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problem\" (from the late summer of 2003); and \"The Woman With You\" (late fall of 2004). While some of Chesney\'s music shows the obvious influence of John Mellencamp and Jimmy Buffett (a point critics are quick to note), he often performs several traditional country songs at his shows (particularly, music from George Jones). His stage presence, sold out shows and recent radio activity were major reasons why he won the Country Music Association\'s 2004 Entertainer of the Year honor. In January 2005, Chesney released the album \"Be As You Are\": Songs From an Old Blue Chair.\" He is supporting the album with his \"Somewhere Under the Sun\" tour (which also will feature Uncle Kracker and Gretchen Wilson).
